change is coming, whether we're ready or not

It's easy to get used to this
I was recently bragging to a friend of mine about the relative easy-going nature of my son: “He just kinda sits in one spot, and wiggles around.” My friend replied, “Just wait till he starts crawling.” All of a sudden I saw my life become some bad 80’s 3 Men And A Baby knockoff, Eleanor, the dog, and me chasing a toddler around the house, frantically crawling under beds and over laundry piles.

I’m not ready for this! I just got used to him chilling in his bouncy seat and soon that will be taken away from me? After I veered the car back on the road, I reflected upon the fact that 12 weeks ago I had never held a newborn and literally had no idea what I was doing. Now, I’d consider myself a moderately competent Dad, and becoming a better one each day.

So (aside from some minor freak outs) I will try to anticipate the changes these next 18 months (and years) and embrace them rather then shirk from them.

Note From Eleanor: I’m pretty sure Puck will be running in the opposite direction of the toddler.

  1. We always found that everything with babies comes in 3 month cycles. Whether it is good or bad, it lasts about 3 months....so enjoy ALL of it, because it passes so quickly! Love you all,
