mommy brain

I am losing my mind.

I leave the stove on nearly every morning - sometimes hours after we’ve made the oatmeal, boiled the water, fried the eggs. Today marks the second day in a row I’ve washed the same load of laundry because I keep neglecting to stick it in the dryer. I forget the keys in the ignition. I forget to put the keys in the ignition. I forget where I put the keys altogether to even put them in the ignition.

Yet at the same time I can repeat (from memory) every word of Little Blue Truck, hit every note of “The Wheels on the Bus,” and seamlessly see to every last detail of Clay’s elaborate bedtime routine. Because "mommy brain" is a very real, very scary thing.

Note From Scott: You misspelled Clay’s name.
...Kidding!
