you can never be too prepared

A trip that’s no longer than 72 hours requires Clay to have an entire suitcase to himself. We’re flying to Ohio for the weekend (Clay’s meeting his great-grandmother), and we’re nervous we might have forgotten something. Winter coat in case the weather takes a sudden turn for the worse? Check. Extra coat in case he spits up on that one? Check. Extra coat in case he then spits up on that one? Check. We’ve mapped out every possible scenario and tried to prepare for it.

But then there’s the plane. We’re terrified Clay might turn out to be a little more Diana Ross (diva) than Ferdinand Magellan (famous explorer/world traveler). And there’s no amount of planning that can comfort a screaming baby in the sky.

Perhaps we’ll just end up buying drinks for those on the airplane, or at least ones for Eleanor and me.

Note From Eleanor: I’m too nervous to comment; I don’t want to jinx anything.
