short-term memory

Prince Charming

Once upon a time in a kingdom far away,
There lived a little boy who slept all through the night.
He was well-rested and cheerful during the day,
Went to bed around eight, then arose at first light.

The little boy stayed peacefully lost in his dreams
Even when the wind howled or the dogs made a clatter.
As a result his parents thought life was a breeze,
And everyone lived happily ever after.

The End

To our great disappointment, Clay is going through another sleep regression, and now the once-ten-hour nights seem like a very distant (very blissful) memory – a fairy tale of sorts. Because when you’re a sleep-deprived parent, you can hardly remember to brush your teeth much less recall the eight hours of sleep you were getting three days ago. We live in the moment.

Note From Scott: Oh good, rhymes. Let me try:
There once was a boy
who loved his dad best,
who squealed with joy
whenever he was addressed.
