the changing of the seasons

color walk with Clay
Up until now Clay hasn’t seen the leaves change color. He hasn’t yet witnessed flocks of geese flying south, or experienced the warmth of wool socks, or watched his breath float up in puffs in the early morning. And suddenly what I previously either took for granted or else avoided altogether (as soon as the weather drops below 60 I tend to go into hibernation) is new and beautiful again. I’ve started spotting the animal tracks outside our door and the acorns dropped in the park. And I can’t wait for snow, and sledding, and Christmas.

Of course, I don’t know how much Clay is actually retaining as he spends most of our walks asleep in the stroller or sling, but even snoozing while the world around you changes is somewhat magical.

Don’t get me wrong though; if Scott got offered a job in Maui today, I’d start packing up our suitcases now.

Note From Scott: I’m not so concerned with the aesthetic changes, but with the fact that my hair freezes after 10 seconds outside.

  1. Eleanor, you are such a hip mama. It's something for all of us future mamas to aspire to! :)

  2. Taylor, you are so sweet! In reality, I just don't take pictures of me in my yoga pants (which is most of the time).
