keeping time

he's still just a little monkey to me
They say blink and you’ll miss it when talking about kids, that one minute they’re rolling on the floor and the next they’re packing their bags for college. But I wonder if you don’t really miss things until they’re gone. Because when you’re in the thick of it – in the midst of dirty diapers and the day-to-day routines, I actually think this is the land where time slows down a little. Not in a bad way, it’s just that babyhood hasn’t seemed to move at that breakneck pace they talk about. My wife mourns every time Clay moves up a size in clothes. She called upgrading from his mini crib the “end of an era.” But when I look at my son he’s still so tiny to me, just the same as he was last week and the week before.

Note From Eleanor: Apparently you haven’t been keeping up with our Instagram account, because our little baby is growing up way too fast!
