we make it harder on ourselves

A happy (slightly belated) Mother's Day to all the moms of littles - to the ones who babywear and the ones who Baby Wise; to the ones who use cloth and the ones who buy bulk; to the ones who breastfeed and the ones who bottle-feed; to the ones who crib sleep, co-sleep, and sleep on a mattress on the floor. You are, all of you, incredible! 

There is nothing easy about parenting. And then so often we, as mothers, make it even harder on ourselves. We measure our worth by what the moms around us are doing - motherhood all too easily becoming just a more complicated version of the middle school playground. We (even unintentionally) pit ourselves against each other when we should be bonding together over this amazing and wonderful (and difficult and terrifying) thing we are a part of. Because the truth of the matter is we are ultimately all doing exactly the right thing: loving our babies fiercely. You are enough, and you are just what your babies need.
