these are the best times

Let's face it. As totally thrilling as every smile and burp is, babies can be a little boring. Of course, now that Clay is crawling and into EVERYTHING, we almost wish things were just a bit less interesting, but there were some long days leading up to this point. So we learned to break up the monotony with some tried and true activities to keep all of us entertained. Here are our favorite things to do with Clay, now and then.

The Best Activities To Do With A Baby:

-Take A Walk- Seems almost too simple, but getting a little fresh air is good for everyone. Even on the coldest days this winter we tried to pop outside for the sake of all our sanity. Exercise + vitamin D + the soothing (sleep-inducing) roll of the stroller = everybody happy.

-Go To The Zoo- Or to the park or to the museum or to the Target. Even if the baby is still too little to really take it in, it's just good to get out. Actually, especially during that newborn stage it can be helpful to remind yourself the world still exists. And everyone - babies and adults alike - finds poop-throwing monkeys fascinating.

-Go Out To Eat- We trained Clay to be a restaurant kid. Starting by sitting him in the booth in a little moses basket, he has since graduated to the highchair and eating off of our plates. Because we love food and eating out, we wanted our son to appreciate those things too. It's a lot more fun to include your child in what you love than to just put your life on hold for eighteen years.

-Read- It's so nice to cuddle up and read together. Best of all, babies can't yet vocalize that they want to hear The Very Hungry Caterpillar 5,000 times in a row.

-Sing- Belt it out. Because he doesn't care if you're out of tune.
