wedding anniversaries mean more (even if they are shorter)

Tuesday marked Eleanor's and my second anniversary. We celebrated at our favorite restaurant over good food (see cheese board) and a splurged-on bottle of wine. And we talked about ourselves and a little about him, but we managed to forget pediatrician appointments and sleep schedules – if just for a little while. And after about an hour-and-a-half (noticing Eleanor starting to get antsy), we skipped dessert and went home to relieve my mother-in-law of the babysitting.

The night was perfect in every respect. It allowed us to dwell in the past a little but also showed us truly how far we’ve come together. For, looking at each other from across the table, Clay could be easily seen in our features.

Here’s to many more years of noticing the little things.

Note From Eleanor: I’m terrible with dates (and my current sleep deprivation doesn’t help); I spent all week thinking our anniversary was on Saturday.
